CHILDREN'S PRE-PROFESSIONAL DIVISION

Level IVA  (Ages 9-10)

Level IVA students are required to train 12 hours per week/45 hours per month. Pre-pointe exercises/classes will strengthen the feet and ankles to prepare the students for pointe shoes, and more advanced technique. Barre work becomes more complex as we continue to add musicality, accuracy and strength into the combinations. Ballet vocabulary continues to be reinforced, along with the execution and advancing of proper technique. Stretching, Conditioning, and Strengthening of the dancer’s muscles will continue and students will incorporate more use of the upper body.

Level IVB  (Ages 10-11)

Level IVB students are required to train 13.5 hours per week/51 hours per month. Pointe work is available at this level, but as stated in the Level Advancement section of this handbook, it is subjective to an individual student's level of skill and physical development. Students, if eligible, will begin Pointe work at the barre only beginning in the spring semester.

Level V (Ages 11-12)

Level V students are required to train 15.5 hours per week/59 hours per month. At this level of instruction, we focus on all previous levels of knowledge and skill in preparation for the possible advancement into the Advanced Pre-Professional Division. Dancers are required to have 1 year on pointe.
